A minute at the hour of the Passion, asking mercy for one person who needs it.
A short stop at three in the afternoon, the hour the Gospels give for the death of Christ, made in memory of his Passion and offered for someone who needs mercy.
When: At three in the afternoon, or as near it as the day allows. On Fridays especially, and every day of Lent.
Why: It keeps one hour of the day tied to the Cross, and it turns attention outward. Naming one person and asking mercy for them is a small act of intercession anyone can carry.
Stop where you are. It is the hour Our Lord died. If you can, pause the work for a minute. Standing is enough.
Pray. You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty yourself out upon us.
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you.
Name one person. Bring to mind one person who needs mercy today, by name. Say simply: Lord, have mercy on them, and on me.
Then close. Jesus, King of Mercy, I trust in you. Amen.
